Manly Wharf is seeking an experienced and motivated Cleaning & Waste Manager to oversee the precinct's cleaning operations and waste management strategies in this newly created role. This leadership role is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental sustainability, while managing contractor relationships, compliance, and day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Lead, manage, and coordinate all cleaning and waste management operations across Manly Wharf precinct.
* Manage external cleaning and waste contractors, ensuring service delivery aligns with contractual KPIs, safety, and environmental standards.
* Oversee the execution of daily cleaning schedules, reactive cleaning, and waste collection, ensuring seamless operations across all areas, including common spaces, restrooms, food courts, and outdoor areas.
* Develop and implement sustainable waste management strategies, including recycling, organics, and landfill diversion initiatives.
* Monitor service quality through inspections, audits, and customer feedback, ensuring exceptional standards of presentation and hygiene are consistently achieved.
* Manage cleaning budgets, procurement of supplies, and contractor invoicing.
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including risk management, incident reporting, and chemical handling.
* Work collaboratively with precinct stakeholders, including retailers, food & beverage operators, and transport services to coordinate cleaning and waste services, particularly during peak periods and events.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability in cleaning and waste practices.
What We Are Looking For
* Weekend work will be a requirement of the role
* Proven experience in managing cleaning and/or waste management operations within commercial, retail, or public precincts.
* Strong leadership and contractor management skills with a focus on service excellence.
* Excellent knowledge of cleaning methodologies, waste management systems, and sustainability practices.
* Strong understanding of WHS and environmental compliance requirements.
* Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Relevant qualifications in cleaning management, facilities management, or environmental services (desirable).
