About the Organisation
KAC RNTBC is based in South Hedland and is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate of the Kariyarra People with a focus to provide native title and related services to support the Kariyarra People in managing their native title rights and interests.
KAC RNTBC advocates for cultural integrity, economic development and community wellbeing for the Kariyarra people. KAC RNTBC operates in partnership with the traditional owners, local Aboriginal communities, government and industry to support growth, self-determination and long-term sustainability for our members.
About the Role
KAC RNTBC is seeking a knowledgeable and driven individual to contribute to KAC RNTBC's strategic plan and vision to protect, manage and promote the Native Title rights and interests of Kariyarra People.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Tenements Specialist, will work with a team of Native Title and Heritage and Environment professionals to develop and implement effective strategies, systems and processes with internal staff and external stakeholders where appropriate, whilst also providing strategic advice on any issues that may impact the KAC RNTBC and business development.
As the Tenement Specialist, you will oversee all tenement applications whilst undertaking work in accordance with KAC RNTBC's primary objective, the protection and promotion of the rights and interests of the Kariyarra people.
This role will be a 24 month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency subject to funding and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Promote KAC RNTBC values and strategic vision.
Manage all aspects of processing tenement applications.
Provide strategic advice on Native Title issues and/or risks to KAC RNTBC.
Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with all relevant obligations.
Maintain and manage all relevant internal KAC databases.
Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare and manage all necessary documentation regarding tenements.
Effectively manage and resolve conflicts and risks to the tenements.
Support the operation and management of all Land Access Agreements.
Represent KAC RNTBC with professionalism, transparency and cultural integrity.
Essential Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in and familiarity with mining legislation and land titles registration procedures.
Proven ability to build rapport and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Kariyarra community.
Strong attention to detail.
High levels of organisational and planning skills.
Ability to use Max Geo Lease Control 1 and Lease Control 2.
Proficiency in standard office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate across cultures and sectors.
Commitment to culturally respectful engagement and strong alignment with the values and aspirations of Aboriginal communities.
Desirable Selection Criteria
Experience working with tenements and land titles in an Aboriginal Corporation.
Prior experience living or working in regional Australia.
Tertiary qualifications in a related field.

Salary and conditions
The role will be based at the South Hedland KAC RNTBC office. KAC RNTBC offers a generous salary (between $120,000 and $130,000) and entitlements package (including salary packaging) for the right person. These entitlements include:
Housing Allowance;
Utility Allowance;
District Allowance;
5 weeks of annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading); and
Supplied tools of trade (i.e. laptop and mobile telephone).
