Let's talk about this role
As a Senior Software Developer in one of our Core Applications teams, you will be working on developing applications and services that are consumed by other internal teams. A 'typical' week will see you joining stakeholder meetings to derive requirements for new works, supporting your lead software engineer in scoping and design activities and of course fulfilling backlog tickets.
You will be responsible for participating in code review activities to ensure our applications and services remain clean and maintainable. Continued growth (technical and professional) is an important metric at NIB and you will be expected to help support more junior engineers growth in the same way you can expect your manager to support yours.
Let's talk about you
The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and real-world experience inmercial software development. The Core Applications Delivery team uses Typescript/React for front-end and use Ruby for back-end APIs, so knowledge of Ruby is a bonus. Having said that, if you're a great developer in any modern language ( Javascript, Typescript, Python or Go), we want to hear from you!
Furthermore, you will have:
1. A clear understanding of CI/CD principles.
2. Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
3. Experience within the AWS ecosystem would be highly regarded.
4. A working understanding of containerisation would be viewed in high regard.
5. Experience with a frontend framework ( Angular, React, Vue) would be desirable
6. Ability to work autonomously while also participating in a highly collaborative team environment.
7. A drive for continued self-growth.
8. Greatmunication skills, both written and verbal.
