About Us

The Bibbulmun Track Foundation (BTF) is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation established to

provide support for the management, maintenance and marketing of the Bibbulmun Track.

About the role

BTF require an enthusiastic and effective leader to manage the BTF operations and contribute to and lead implementation of its strategic vision. Experience in the key responsibilities below, and a genuine interest in hiking and the outdoors are required to fit BTF’s values and vision.

Key responsibilities of the CEO include:


Leadership

Demonstrates enthusiastic and effective leadership and is a fitting representative of the BTF, our values and vision.

Continues activation of the track and grows the BTF’s impact through strategic engagement with:

Board, staff, members and volunteers.

Partners in government, industry, and community organisations, groups and individuals.

Sponsors and grant funding bodies.

Leads strategic planning (with the Chair).

Responsible for delivering on the objectives of the Strategic Plan, and for the overall success and future sustainability of the BTF.

Provides clear and consistent direction, models appropriate behaviours, supports and enables a high level of performance by staff and volunteers, in positioning the organisation to achieve its goals.

Creates a positive, inclusive and engaging workplace culture.

Maintains awareness and acts appropriately positioning BTF in political, governmental, business, and industry contexts.

Identifies innovative and effective solutions to challenges and engage with opportunities to enhance the BTF.


Strategic, Operational and Financial Management

Provides timely reporting and information to the Board, including reporting on progress against the Strategic Plan and identifying emerging issues.

Identifies and manages risk.

Develops annual budget for the Board approval, tracks progress and develops and manage acquittals for individual programs.

Manages staff and oversees the operations of the BTF, including budgeting and monitoring and reporting of the organisation’s performance against the Strategic Plan, operational plans and budget.

Ensures delivery of operational plans.

Ensures HR legislation, contracts and payroll are accurate.

P&Ls are analysed for anomalies and risks managed and reported to the Board.

Plan for, and implement change in relation to staff, volunteers, infrastructure and technology and accommodation as needed.

Governance and Communications

Report to the Board and maintain a positive working environment.

Work within the BTF’s mission, values, constitution to implement and manage good governance.

Develop, monitor, periodically review and evaluate BTF services, communications and products and ensure alignment with vision, values, priorities and strategy.

Ensure that the Board is provided with sufficient accurate information on a timely basis, to enable it to fulfil its governance responsibilities.

Communicate as required with key stakeholders including BTF membership/volunteers, industry representatives and government.

Represent the BTF as required, including attendance at functions, industry events and public meetings.

Business Development

Develop and implement an innovative business development strategy that celebrates the history of BTF and reinvigorates the organisation for new development opportunities and revenue streams.

Review the BTF shop for effective sales for preservation of BTF history and promotion of its vision and values.

Identify relevant stakeholders for business development opportunities that can support and assist BTF in new opportunities.

Develop networks and opportunities for Not-for-Profit purposes.

Selection Criteria

Executive

Tertiary qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong advocacy and negotiation skills

Strategic thinking skills and the ability to identify and take opportunities

Business development through creative and critical thinking

Managing People

Ability to manage people collegially, develop a collaborative and inclusive team ethos, and mentor and develop staff

Ability to build a strong, motivated team focussed on delivery of strategic objectives

Awareness of and sensitivity to cross-cultural settings aligned with patience, tolerance and flexibility

Capacity to work closely and effectively with Indigenous Australians

Business Management

Experience in organisation and business development in not-for-profit context with demonstrated high levels of initiative, creativity and energy

A capacity to see and work with a long-term vision and engage in strategy development, while dealing effectively with immediate issues

Strong skills in financial management

A commitment to ensuring safe working practices

Experience in representation and advocacy

Experience in the not-for-profit or public sector

An understanding of and commitment to community development
