Senior Mental Health Clinician Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our team in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed responses to individuals experiencing acute psychological distress and suicidal crisis.
The role requires advanced clinical expertise, sound judgement and leadership in mental health and psychosocial assessment, safety planning and brief interventions. You will play a vital role in stabilisation, early engagement and linking individuals with outpatient and community services, while also supporting families, carers and friends.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical governance and leadership with an understanding of and commitment to the principles and values of the peer workforce.
* Work collaboratively in identifying opportunities for practice improvement and develop, lead and evaluate ongoing practice improvement activities.
* Exercise independent professional judgement, including advanced problem solving and analytical skills in line with professional and operational structures to ensure safe, high level and effective collaborative, recovery-oriented service provision.
* Provide senior clinical leadership and supervision and provide input and advice regarding policy, practice and service development to managers and staff.
Requirements
* OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY: Bachelor degree with APHRA registration as an occupational therapist and substantial experience in mental health or suicide prevention.
* SOCIAL WORK: Bachelor degree with eligibility for AASW membership and substantial experience in mental health or suicide prevention.
* COUNSELLOR: Minimum Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang Program) and substantial experience in mental health or suicide prevention.
* NURSING: Current AHPRA registration & minimum 5 years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in Mental Health nursing and post graduate qualifications in Mental Health or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
* PSYCHOLOGY: Tertiary qualifications in psychology with full registration as a psychologist and a minimum of 9 years post qualifying experience. Clinical Psychology: Registered psychologist with an accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with endorsement or working towards endorsement.
