Mechanical Project / Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
Salary of up to $120k plus super depending on exp.
Our client is an ASX listed designer / manufacturer of automotive parts with operations across Australia. Driven by business growth, multiple permanent opportunities for mechanical project engineers have become available based out of their product development and manufacturing facility in Melbourne's South East.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop new products to meet required standards, meeting customer specific requirements and budget expectations.
* Coordinate with production engineering for jigs, production processes and pilot runs to ensure a flawless launch.
* Contribute to PPAP documentation accurately.
* Ensure products are manufacturable and meet performance and timing targets.
* Ensure that product designs are in line with costing targets to ensure that gross margin targets are achieved.
* Develop a culture of customer service both internally and externally and ensure effective communication with cross-functional and cross-entity stakeholders.
* Coordinate with project managers to achieve on-time delivery at target manufactured cost.
* Manage relationships with senior engineering staff and business functional leaders.
* Stay informed about customer and product strategic directions.
Qualifications & Requirements
* A professional engineer with around 5 years post graduate experience in the design of mechanically loaded/safety products most likely in automotive chassis product development roles.
* Familiar with basic metal fabricating processes and plastic/rubber moulding technologies.
* Experience with SolidWorks CAD modelling and drawing creation.
* Proficient in creating and interpreting engineering documentation, including PPAP.
* Focused on a high customer service ethic, with a strong ability to communicate.
* An engineer that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
