About the Role
ACU is seeking expressions of interest to work as Casual Tutors in Mathematics in ****, commencing in Semester 1. Multiple positions available in Sydney (Strathfield), Brisbane and Melbourne. EOIs welcome from applicants with advanced / postgraduate degrees in mathematics and / or cognate disciplines. Preference will be given to applicants with proven track records of teaching in a higher education content and excellent organisational and inter-personal skills. PhD and scholarly publications are desirable but not compulsory.
Responsibilities
Teaching small tutorials of students for mathematics units online or in-person (options available for Melbourne, Strathfield (Sydney) or Brisbane)
Evaluating student work in assessment tasks, including marking student responses and examinations
Liaising with Unit Leaders by email, online and / or in-person as required
Preparing materials and lesson plans for classes / tutorials in consultation with Unit Leaders
Invigilating student participation during in-person assessment tasks, including examinations
You will need to have
Advanced / postgraduate degree in mathematics or cognate discipline, e.g., econometrics, economics, physics, quantitative sciences / methods (preference for PhD awarded or near-completion)
Track record of teaching in a higher education environment preferred, as evidenced by student evaluations of teaching
Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills
A track record in scholarly research publications will be valued highly
