The Role
The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Music curriculum. As part of this role, you will ideally self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With excellent organisational skills and effective interpersonal skills, you would work closely with students, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
As our Music Specialist, the successful applicant will ideally have experience in leading and organising bands and be involved in a variety of events including Anzac Service, Arts Royale and other performance opportunities. The successful applicant would also co-ordinate the Instrumental Music Program, on behalf of the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS), working with the Head of Learning Area – The Arts, the instrumental music teachers and the students to organise lessons and plan performances.
The successful applicant should have strong classroom management skills and the ability to follow whole school Behaviour Management processes. The successful applicant will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. The successful applicant would also teach across other areas of the Arts and work closely with other members of the Learning Area. Knowledge of and experience in the industry is highly desirable.
A commitment to enhancing students' learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice is desirable, as is a commitment to plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which includes collaboration with colleagues. You should show a willingness to contribute and maintain a team environment.
