This leading higher education provider is recognised for its commitment to research excellence and innovation. As part of its Procurement Services team, you'll play a key role in sourcing strategies that support advanced research and teaching, including IT, Infrastructure, Mining and more.
Your New Role
As the Sourcing Manager for Research and Teaching Equipment and Consumables, you'll develop and execute sourcing strategies across multiple research equipment and service categories, including IT, Infrastructure, High Tech Equipment and mining - managing multiple complex projects.
You'll manage sourcing initiatives end-to-end, including RFx processes, contract negotiations, and supporting implementation and transition. You'll also lead procurement during the planning and construction phases of major capital projects, source and purchase high-value, high-tech research equipment, and establish supplier panels to streamline procurement and ensure compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and deliver strategic sourcing plans across research and equipment categories.
* Lead procurement for major infrastructure, IT and research projects, including during the build phase.
* Source and acquire specialised, high-tech research equipment and consumables.
* Establish and manage supplier panels to support long-term procurement needs.
* Manage RFx processes, contract negotiations, and supplier transitions.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
* Ensure procurement governance, reporting, and alignment with organisational goals.
* Drive continuous improvement in sourcing practices and contract performance.
* Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Experience in strategic sourcing within research, scientific, or technical fields such as medical devices, mining, infrastructure, and/or IT.
* Proven success in setting up and managing panels is a must.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage complex procurement projects.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, including with senior executives.
* Ability to translate complex requirements into practical sourcing solutions.
What You'll Get in Return
* A competitive base salary of $156,000 plus 17% superannuation.
* This is a 3 year Fixed Term Contract (May 2028 end date).
* Hybrid Working 2/3 days in Office. Offices based in Camperdown.
