Role Overview
The Professional Services Project Management Officer (PMO) provides governance, delivery oversight, and hands-on support across Sympac's retail ERP implementation portfolio. The role ensures retail ERP projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed scope and quality standards.
The PMO acts as the central authority for retail ERP delivery standards, portfolio reporting, and project governance while also contributing directly to implementation activities.
This position is being recruited in advance of a planned retirement, allowing for a structured transition and handover period. The successful candidate will work closely with the current role holder to ensure continuity and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Retail ERP Project Governance & Delivery
• Define and enforce retail ERP implementation frameworks, standards, and governance models
• Oversee retail ERP projects across merchandising, POS, inventory, supply chain, and finance streams
• Ensure audit compliance, documentation quality, and formal customer sign-off at each project stage
• Provide guidance and escalation support to retail ERP Project Leads and consultants
Commercial & Financial Management
• Monitor retail ERP project hours, burn rates, bill rates, and forecasts
• Ensure delivery aligns with Statements of Work and retail implementation milestones
• Manage risks related to scope creep, customisation, integrations, and data migration
Resource & Capacity Management
• Coordinate allocation of functional and technical ERP consultants across concurrent retail implementations
• Monitor utilisation, skills coverage, and delivery capacity
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
• Lead Sales-to-Professional Services handovers for retail ERP projects
• Act as a senior escalation point for delivery and governance issues
• Produce executive-level reporting covering milestones, risks, and financials
• Align delivery expectations between retailers, delivery teams, and internal stakeholders
Retail ERP Execution & Systems
• Manage projects using approved Project Management and PSA systems (including Autotask)
• Coordinate data migration, integrations, UAT, training, and retail go-live planning
• Support stage-based billing aligned to retail ERP delivery phases
Training & Enablement
• Manage retail ERP training programs for head office and store-based users
• Oversee training content quality and delivery (remote and onsite)
• Deliver remote and onsite training for head office and store-based users
• Support adoption across store networks and operational teams
On-site & Travel Requirements
This role requires on-site work nationally, including travel to customer locations across Australia as part of retail ERP delivery, governance, and go-live activities.
Qualifications & Experience
· Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, IT, Business, or equivalent practical experience
· Proven experience in a PMO or senior project delivery role within ERP or enterprise software environments
· Strong understanding of project governance, financial control, and delivery frameworks
· Experience using PSA and project management tools such as Autotask, Jira, or similar
Skills & Attributes
· Strong knowledge of retail ERP systems, including merchandising, POS, inventory, supply chain, and finance processes
· Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently at executive and operational levels
· Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
· Analytical and structured problem-solving approach with strong risk and issue management capability
· Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to balance governance discipline with practical, hands-on delivery support
· Proactive, accountable, and outcome-focused mindset
· Exposure to business operations within wholesale, retail, or finance sectors
