The Role:
We are currently seeking an Open Cut Examiner (OCE) to join our high performing team at the Vulcan Mine complex. The Vulcan mine complex has been in production since mid-2021 and has expanded mine production to deliver 1.95mt per annum utilising 2 x EX3600 excavator fleets. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin approximately 45km from Dysart.
Reporting to the Site Senior Executive, this role is responsible for overseeing the safety and health of workers within the surface excavation, delivery of mining operations, and management of contractors. This position is suited to someone who works well within a small team environment and is capable of interacting effectively across all areas of the business.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new mining operation and to take ownership of a wide array of tasks which directly relate to the success of the operation.
Roster:
The position is offered on a 7/7 roster. Preference will be given to DIDO applicants based in central QLD, however FIFO can be considered.
Duties will include:
* Ensure the safety and health of persons in or around the surface excavation during mining activities in or around the surface excavation;
* Ensure compliance with the Safety and Health Management System;
* Manage interactions between coal mining, overburden, blasting and neighbouring stakeholders;
* Conduct inspections of the surface excavation to ensure the risk to coal mine workers is at an acceptable level;
* Assist in the supervision of the operations as required;
* Assist in production/operational related tasks whenever possible;
* Complete required reporting and auditing on the safety performance of the operations as per the SHMS;
* Assist in development and auditing of the SHMS;
* Promote and foster a safety-driven culture; and
* All other duties as required by the Company from time to time.
About the Candidate:
You will hold a current QLD Open Cut Examiner certificate of competency, along with:
* 10+ years previous experience in coal mining operational roles;
* Must hold current SSAN (Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate) clearance;
* Must hold relevant gas monitoring competencies;
* Valid driver's licence and proof of right to work in Australia;
* Possess great communication skills and a professional attitude when working within a team;
* Current advanced first aid competencies is desirable;
* Current STD11 highly regarded.

* May be required to complete background screening which may include a criminal check and validation of qualifications.
