Your new role
Reporting to a senior executive, the Director, Risk and Assurance is a senior leadership role accountable for overseeing enterprise risk management, audit, fraud and assurance functions. Leading a small, specialist team, you will provide strategic and practical advice to executives and governance committees, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external assurance partners.
This role suits an experienced risk and assurance leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys influencing at senior levels, and is looking for an opportunity that can transition from an initial 6‐month contract into a permanent executive role.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing strategic oversight of enterprise risk, assurance and internal control frameworks
* Leading the internal audit program and coordinating external audits
* Supporting executive committees and boards through high‐quality reporting and advice
* Strengthening fraud, corruption and compliance controls
* Driving business continuity, crisis management and resilience planning
* Promoting a positive, proactive risk culture across the organisation
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
* Significant experience in risk, audit, compliance or assurance roles, ideally within the public sector or a highly regulated environment
* Strong understanding of Commonwealth risk, audit and governance requirements
* Demonstrated experience engaging with boards, audit committees and senior executives
* Proven leadership capability and experience leading small, high‐performing teams
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted relationships
* Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a baseline security clearance
