About the Opportunity

Step into a key operational role where you will coordinate complex inspections, provide expert advice and support, and play an important part in CBS's compliance and enforcement work. As a Senior Enforcement Officer, you will lead and participate in taskforce operations targeting tobacco and vaping, guide inspectors and investigators, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver consistent, high‐quality regulatory outcomes. The Senior Enforcement Officer will be responsible for reporting on findings, issuing enforcement actions, preparing prosecution briefs and overseeing field operations with management to drive compliance and mitigate risk.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading taskforce operations, including joint activities with law enforcement.
* Coordinating complex compliance activities such as interviews, document review and evidence collection.
* Preparing high quality disciplinary and prosecution briefs for court and regulatory authorities.
* Representing CBS in court and providing accurate, reliable witness testimony.
* Supporting and guiding investigators, inspectors and other CBS staff.
* Issuing notices, expiations and other enforcement actions in line with legislation and policy.
* Analysing compliance trends and preparing reports and recommendations.
* Ensuring evidence is correctly gathered, labelled, stored, transported and destroyed.

What we're looking for:

* Strong experience leading compliance activities, including complex or sensitive matters.
* Extensive knowledge of investigation and inspection techniques, including interviewing.
* Proven ability to prepare high quality reports, statements and prosecution briefs.
* Experience with court processes and giving evidence.
* Ability to work under broad direction, exercise sound judgement and guide less experienced inspectors.

About the Business

The Attorney‐General's Department (AGD) provides a range of legal, regulatory and other services for the government and people of South Australia. Employing around 1500 staff, AGD promotes justice by protecting people's rights, holding people to account according to the law, improving safety and contributing to an efficient and fair justice system.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a division of the AGD and is responsible for protecting consumers, supporting and regulating businesses and recording significant life events for South Australians. CBS is customer‐focused and flexible in its activities, providing accessible information and services.

The Compliance and Enforcement branch is responsible for ensuring high levels of industry compliance are maintained under all legislation administered by CBS. The Senior Enforcement Officer operates within a highly complex, politically sensitive and changing environment and is required to exercise a high level of judgement and decision making under broad direction.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Employment-related Screening Check required.

Some out of hours work may be required.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).

Eligible to be appointed and exercise the powers and functions of an Authorised Officer or Inspector under relevant legislation.

Will be authorised to issue Expiation Notices under relevant legislation.

Will be required to work according to a 7‐day roster including weekends and public holidays.
