Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Finance Officer – Payroll & Accounts Payable to deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll and accounts payable services across AAC and its subsidiaries.

About the Role
You'll work closely with the Finance and People & Culture teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring legislative compliance, strong internal controls, and high-quality service to employees and suppliers. The position supports operational efficiency and the integrity of payroll and financial data across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver end-to-end payroll processing (weekly and fortnightly), including statutory payments, STP reporting, and compliance with Australian legislation and awards
* Maintain accurate payroll records and respond to employee payroll enquiries in a timely and professional manner
* Collaborate with People & Culture on onboarding, offboarding, and payroll-related changes
* Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice matching, coding, approvals, supplier payments, and staff reimbursements
* Assist with month-end close, audits, financial reporting, and maintenance of accurate financial records
* Provide ad-hoc support to the Finance team and assist with quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS).
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 2 years' experience managing and processing payroll and accounts payable.
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll, taxation, superannuation, and employment legislation.
* Experience using ELMO, MYOB or a similar ERP system.
* Knowledge of corporate accounting practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to process transactions efficiently.
* The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
* Willing to undertake a National Criminal History Check as part of the employment process.
