Dubbo Aboriginal Medical Service (DAMS) is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the full-time position of Banma-li Wellbeing Worker. This role will work closely with the Integrated Team Care and SEWB team. The position is located at Dubbo. The successful applicant will need to travel as part of this job.
The Banma-li Wellbeing Worker is responsible to assist with the promotion of the ITC and SEWB programs, connection to communities and awareness, and delivering health promotion for the Banma-li program. The role includes health promotion duties with responsibility for developing and promoting health promotion and education activities to clients and broader community regarding the ITC and SEWB programs, how to self-manage their conditions and promoting access to CAHS health services.
Note: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified Position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW, which requires successful candidates to provide proof of Aboriginality.
Key Selection Criteria
* Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory),
* AQTF Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice, Counselling, Social Work, Welfare, Community Services, Psychology, or Social Sciences (or currently studying towards)
* Demonstrated ability to design and deliver health promotion and primary prevention initiatives to promote the SEWB and ITC programs
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, communicate clearly and effectively with a range of clinical staff and stakeholders, and to be respectful and considerate of stakeholder's needs
* Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people with knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal people and Aboriginal organisations
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Demonstrates a commitment to the CAHS code of conduct, equal employment opportunity, work health & safety and cultural safety framework
* Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children's check and unrestricted class C or P2 driver's license
Desirable
* Experience working in an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation or providing community health to Aboriginal communities.
