The Opportunity: Your Foot in the Door
Looking to break into P&C Business Partnering? Or perhaps you're looking for a "taster" of Local Government without committing to a permanent seat? Join a team that values laughter as much as leadership, collaboration as much as capability, and people as much as process.
Our team is currently in a big transformation phase, and we need a resilient, hands-on professional to join our People & Culture team to cover a 6-month secondment. This is a rare, low-risk opportunity to gain high-level experience in a supportive environment where we genuinely help each other out.
The Reality: Strategy Meets the "Weeds"
We'll be honest; we are currently "reprogramming" how we work. While we are building a strategic future, this 6-month role still involves getting your hands dirty with the day-to-day operations. You will be:
Partnering with Purpose: Building trust with leaders and helping them navigate employee relations matters.
Learning the Local Gov Landscape: Navigating Industrial Agreements and contemporary HR practices within a complex, growing City.
Why this is a great move for you: You won't be doing this alone. You'll be joining a team that values collaboration and "learning by doing". It's the perfect environment to build your confidence as a Business Partner.
Why You'll Love Working With Us
The "Taster" Experience: Get a feel for the sector and the role. If you love it, who knows? We are a growing City and other opportunities frequently arise.
Supportive Culture: We don't believe in "sink or swim." You'll have a team around you to troubleshoot ideas and share the load.
Genuine Flexibility: Choose between an optional 9-day fortnight or 19-day month, plus a regular WFH day to balance focus and connection – if that's something you're interested in
Unbeatable Benefits: 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata), 2 wellness days, and 12 days of Reproductive Health Leave (pro rata).
About You
You might be a Senior HR Officer ready for the next step, or an experienced BP looking for a 6-month "park up" while you figure out your next big move.
You are confident with ER/IR basics and don't mind the administrative side of the role while we work on automating it.
You are a people person who values trust, transparency, and getting things done.
Maybe you just genuinely love process improvement and want to join us on our change journey

• Proven ability to coach and advise leaders on complex and sensitive employee relations matters.
