Turn your passion for plants, people and place into purpose. The Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium is seeking enthusiastic Casual Garden Rangers to help deliver safe, welcoming and beautifully presented garden spaces across our iconic sites.
As a Garden Ranger, you'll support daily horticultural tasks, assist visitors with confidence and care, and help ensure our gardens remain vibrant, secure and enjoyable. From patrolling leafy paths to keeping facilities tidy and events running smoothly, you'll play a key role in creating memorable visitor experiences.
What You'll Do:
* Support garden presentation and maintenance across living collections.
* Conduct site patrols, safety checks and opening/closing procedures.
* Provide friendly, accurate information to visitors.
* Assist with events, activations and daily garden operations.
* Uphold garden regulations and procedures professionally.

* Experience in gardens, parks or landscaped public spaces (desirable).

Contract: Multiple 12 Month Casual Contracts
Desirable Qualifications: Certificate III in Horticulture (Trade Level Qualifications)
Special Conditions:
* Will be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
* You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
* Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.
* Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. (DEW will cover the cost of renewal)
* Will be required to work outside of normal working hours, including weeknights, on weekends, public holidays and any other duties as required.
* Current class "C" driver's licence and willingness and an ability to safely operate a 4wd and horticultural machinery is essential.
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate is desirable or must be willing to obtain a certificate as part of employment. Will be required to participate on a roster system for duties associated with the role including on call and standby arrangements as required. A flexible approach to duty hours and taking of leave is essential.
* Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.
* The incumbent may be assigned to a position at another site dependent on organisational and individual requirements.
Remuneration: GSE4, $37.12 min - $37.51 max per hour including a 25% leave loading in lieu of sick leave and annual leave.
