About the role
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide strategic, high-quality legal advice across operational, governance and compliance matters for the Fund. Partnering closely with senior stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting organisational objectives, managing legal risk, and responding to a complex and evolving regulatory landscape. This is a broad and commercially focused role, where you will act as a trusted advisor and contribute to key business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Partnering with stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and resolve complex legal issues
* Providing expert legal advice across regulatory and operational matters
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of legal documents, including commercial agreements, policies and frameworks
* Advising on legislative and regulatory change, including legal implications and change management impacts
* Contributing to Legal strategy and aligning initiatives with broader Fund objectives
* Supporting engagement with regulators, audit processes, legal reviews and investigations as required
* Managing external legal counsel
* Mentoring and guiding junior members of the Legal team
What we're looking for
* Qualified senior lawyer with a current practising certificate
* Significant experience in superannuation or financial services
* Strong commercial mindset with the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice
* Demonstrated experience partnering with and influencing stakeholders across all levels
* Proven ability to manage complex legal issues with sound judgement and high attention to detail
* Strong contract drafting, negotiation and problem-solving capability
* Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
* High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion
