**The role:**
Join the Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), funded by the Australian Government, and help reduce loneliness among older Australians. As a volunteer, youll be matched with an older person who would value regular social visits. You might chat over coffee, share stories, play games, listen to music, or enjoy a gentle strollwhatever feels natural for both of you. Its a simple, rewarding way to make a genuine difference in your community.
**Our Client:**
Meet a delightful 90yearold woman living in residential aged care who would love regular company and friendly conversation. She enjoys reminiscing about ballroom dancing and loves anything creativeknitting, crochet and sewing. While she prefers chatting in English, shed also enjoy the chance to practice a little Dutch from time to time. Your visits can bring joy, comfort and companionship to her week.
As we age our support needs may grow and change. For some people communicating and expressing themselves may become challenging:
Difficulty finding words
Speaking fluently but not making sense
Difficulty expressing their emotions
Getting frustrated with themselves and the people around them.
A caring and positive attitude when speaking to someone can make a big difference.

**About You:**
* Would be great if you spoke Dutch but not essential
* Possess clear communication skills
* Compassionate, patient and an excellent listener
* Passionate about giving back to your community
* Conducts yourself with open-mindedness and respect, ensuring the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of our clients is always maintained
* Comfortable using technology to provide feedback and connect with the Volunteer Program
* Availability for a flexible six-month commitment
**Time Commitment:**
1 hour per week or fortnight, between 9:00am - 5:00pm.
