Role
An education support class position will perform tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. The role may include coordination of other education support staff, assistance to teachers, and technical support tasks. The position is not a teaching role. Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required at this level.
Responsibilities
* Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning routine student schedules.
* Supports communication between teachers and parents.
* Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students.
* Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
* Assists students in understanding basic tasks and information.
* Addresses immediate behavioural presentations within classroom settings aligned to school policy.
* Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to four students.
* Supports teachers in coordinating educational programs, rostering, organising work of aides, and liaising with external support providers.
* Provides medical intervention support to students under specific conditions, with appropriate training.
* Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
