We are working with a fast-growing commercial construction business in Townsville that is expanding its estimating capability to support a strong project pipeline. This is an ideal opportunity if you come from a hands-on trade background and are ready to transition into an office-based role while staying connected to the construction industry.
You will support the preparation of accurate estimates and tenders across a range of commercial projects. Much of the role involves coordinating subcontractor pricing, reviewing drawings, gathering quotes, and helping build competitive submissions. Your practical construction knowledge will be highly valued when assessing civil and concrete works, where contractor rates and cost risk require real on-site understanding.
You will join a grounded and practical team that values people who know how projects are delivered. Ongoing support will be provided to help you develop your estimating capability and build a rewarding long-term career.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects
- Review drawings, plans, and specifications
- Obtain and assess pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and value opportunities
- Support tender submissions from start to finish
- Work closely with project managers and site teams
- Complete take-offs for civil and concrete works
About you
- Trade background in construction such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, concreting or similar
- Strong understanding of how construction projects are delivered on site
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Confident communicator with trades, suppliers, and internal teams
- Practical problem-solving skills and sound commercial awareness
- Understanding of civil and concrete pricing highly regarded
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn estimating systems
- Experience with Buildsoft, Cubit, Bluebeam or similar is beneficial but not essential
- Comfortable using or learning Microsoft Excel and office tools
