The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Perth Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) team.
Working directly with partner Lucy Shea, this role involves a diverse variety of interesting and challenging work, advising public and private sector clients on a broad range of regulatory frameworks in the context of strategic approvals and regulatory advice, major projects and transactions, enforcement, litigation and dispute resolution. The depth of expertise across our national ESD team and the nature of our clients, means we are working at the forefront of reform and innovation in this space, advising on projects and operations in the energy and resources, renewables, infrastructure, agribusiness and property development sectors (amongst others). We are seeking a Senior Associate with environment experience who can deliver to the needs of our clients, with planning, government law and native title expertise also of interest.
Collegiality is a strong aspect of our team and we are looking for an Senior Associate to provide strong and reliable senior support to the Partner whilst assisting with mentorship of our highly capable lawyers. This part-time opportunity will work closely with another Senior Associate in the team to effectively deliver on client expectations whilst maintaining work-life balance. The team prides itself on it's collaborative approach and providing support to one another which drives the success of the practice.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. At least 0-2 years' experience as a Senior Associate with a background in environmental law and ideally planning, Aboriginal cultural heritage, native title or related practice areas
2. Strong skills in legislative interpretation, analytical thinking and advice drafting, and attention to detail
3. Familiarity with State Administrative Tribunal or Supreme/Federal Court litigation
4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment
5. Demonstrated capability to work autonomously as well as a team member
* Experience in supervision and developing junior lawyers
* A high degree of initiative, dedication and organisational ability with a strong client and commercial focus
* A desire to develop and participate in business development initiatives, including seminars and publishing articles

While we specialise in each jurisdiction we are a national practice group with opportunity to work with our interstate colleagues.
