Description
Temporary position provides service of installation, repair, and maintenance of all district grounds and landscaped areas.

2. 8 HOURS PER DAY
3. WORK HOURS: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
4. ANTICIPATED START DATE: 6/3/24 THROUGH 8/30/24
5. Benefits--Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.
6. Additional benefits may include vacation, sick, personal days, and paid holidays.
7. Most positions have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule, all in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements as negotiated.
SALARY: LEVEL 7 on the Custodial/Grounds/Warehouse Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school. .
Responsibilities
8. Work with hand tools to dig ditches, trenches, and other excavations.
9. Maintain shrub beds, flower beds, lawns, and other required area.
10. Assist in applying fertilizers, weed, and ground sprays as required.
11. Remove, transfer, and lay sod as needed.
12. Operate power tools and equipment including trucks, tractors, etc.
13. Handle power equipment such as mowers, edgers, sod cutters, and pruning equipment.
14. Perform routine maintenance work on grounds such as aerating, trimming, pruning, seeding as required.
15. Perform in snow removal as assigned.
16. Observe safety rules and regulations at all times.
17. Perform related duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
18. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
19. Ability to handle power equipment such as mowers, edgers, sod cutters, pruning equipment, and snow blowers.
20. Physical strength and ability to perform strenuous outside work. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
21. Valid driver's license.
22. High school diploma or equivalent required. Related education preferred.
23. Related work experience required with parks, golf courses, and large institutional work experience.
24. Basic horticulture knowledge and ability.
25. Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with other people and to sustain employment.
26. Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of co-workers and staff in a positive and professional manner.
27. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
28. Possession of fertilizer and spray licenses preferred.
29. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
