Indicative total remuneration: $365,798 - $619,164 (subject to private practice arrangements).

About the Role
Medical Consultant Rural Generalist – Emergency / Inpatients. Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care in a dynamic rural hospital environment. Lead the clinical management of patients across the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care. Provide after‑hours Code Blue support and contribute to a 24/7 roster.
Responsibilities
* Lead clinical management across the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit.
* Provide after‑hours Code Blue support and contribute to a 24/7 roster.
* Shape and advance care models, such as fast‑tracking, nurse‑led strategies and criteria‑led discharges.
* Promote innovation and collaboration across teams.
* Engage in strategic planning, quality improvement activities, clinical governance and staff education.
* Supervise and train junior staff and provide ongoing professional development.
* Support service planning, team development and clinical governance activities (up to 2 days per fortnight).
* HOU leadership role includes managerial allowance and up to 5 years term.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
* Fellowship of the Australian College Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist.
* Extensive experience in rural clinical practice.
* Experience delivering emergency care in a clinical setting.
* Demonstrated skills in resuscitation, airway maintenance and circulatory support.
* Experience operational management of retrievals of critically ill patients.
* Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Experience working with a diverse client group, including mental health clients and paediatrics.
* Experience supervising and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
* Proven experience delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards.
