Selection Criteria

* SC1: Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills, including the capacity to develop collaborative relationships with staff, contractors, service providers and relevant stakeholders.
* SC2: Demonstrated high level technical knowledge in relation to the Department of Education and school related systems e.g., AIMS, CASES21, Sentral, SAM4Schools and Edusafe Plus.
* SC3: Demonstrated knowledge and management of Occupation Health and Safety (OHS) policy and framework, ensuring compliance.
* SC4: Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate projects relating to overall school improvement.
* SC5: Demonstrated capacity to provide expert advice and support the Leadership team in respect to buildings, grounds and facilities.


Role


The Facilities Manager position is an important role in supporting the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the buildings, grounds and physical resources in the school in collaboration with the Business Manager and the school Principal. The position is also the key person responsible for the operation and oversight of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHMS).

The role involves coordination of facilities-related work, including liaising with contractors, responding to maintenance requests, and supporting compliance and safety processes, as well as assisting the school administration team.The role is full time, 7.6 hrs per day, 5 days per week (negotiable). While attendance is typically not required during school holidays, there may be instances where it is necessary. In such cases, the successful applicant will be paid extra via an ad hoc leave purchase allowance.

Transferrable skills will be considered, and relevant professional development will be provided to the successful applicant if required.

Responsibilities


Responsibilities

General

* Ensure that all buildings and grounds are well maintained and presented, with all work undertaken in compliance with OHS and Department standards.
* Maintain a healthy and safe working environment by following OHS regulations and actively participating as a member of the OHS Team.
* Respond to OHS requests from staff, students, and stakeholders in consultation with the Principal and Business Manager and ensure appropriate action is taken.
* Support the management of AIMS by maintaining and updating maintenance records, contracts, and service schedules.
* Assisting the administration team with CASES21 tasks.
* Liaise with and coordinate contractors onsite, ensuring compliance before attendance and verifying completion of works.
* Arrange regular servicing and inspection of all essential equipment and systems.
* Provide regular updates to the Principal and Business Manager regarding building, grounds, and facilities operations.
* Participate in relevant training and professional learning as required.
* Opening the school on Monday and Fridays and other days at request.

Buildings, Grounds and Facilities

* Support and manage minor works and refurbishment projects, both school-driven and Department-driven.
* Manage the maintenance of the school grounds, including mowing, garden care, and weed control.
* Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of school facilities and grounds.
* Undertake any other duties as negotiated with the Principal.

Compliance and Annual Inspections

* Support OHS reporting, auditing, and project requirements to ensure adherence to legislation.
* Manage general and cyclical maintenance of facilities and equipment.
* Comply with WorkSafe and Departmental standards regarding asbestos, chemical safety, risk management, and facilities hazards.
* Undertake routine inspections and other tasks as required by the Departments OHS calendar.
