About The Role
As part of the Jury Experience crew, you will play a critical role in delivering high‐quality live performances by ensuring seamless technical execution and clear communication across all departments. This role is hands‐on, detail‐driven, and central to the successful delivery of each show. We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and technically confident Stage Manager to support and operate live productions across Sydney and Melbourne.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparation, coordination, and execution of all technical and show‐running elements, working closely with directors, cast, venue technicians, and production staff.
* Operating Qlab to cue video, images, and sound; leading live show operations during performances; maintaining focus and adaptability; troubleshooting last‐minute technical issues.
* Coordinating with local teams, acting as the primary point of contact between technical crew, actors, director, and production staff.
* Managing printed and digital materials, ensuring run‐of‐show is implemented and maintained, and completing stage manager reports after each show.
Pre‐Show Preparation
* Review all technical materials – images, videos, sound assets, scripts, and cue sheets.
* Analyse scripts and cue sheets to understand show structure and cues.
* Prepare, maintain, and update cue sheets, ensuring all production cues and technical instructions are accurate and current.
* Attend rehearsals to practice cues and refine timing with director and cast.
* Attend technical recces and liaise with venue technical teams.
* Participate in onboarding meetings with local production teams for materials and project briefings.
* Conduct independent study and review of all materials to ensure full familiarity with the show.
Live Show Execution
* Operate the live show using QLab 5, managing video, images, and sound seamlessly.
* Lead live show operations during performances, ensuring cues are executed accurately and on schedule.
* Maintain focus and adaptability during live performances, responding quickly to changes or issues.
* Troubleshoot and resolve last‐minute technical issues to maintain a smooth and professional production.
Team Coordination & Communication
* Act as the primary point of contact between technical crew, actors, director, and production staff during rehearsals and performances.
* Oversee all technical elements of the show – lighting, sound, props, and set requirements – in coordination with venue teams.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and seamless collaboration.
* Support a positive, calm, and professional working environment during live operations.
Show Logistics & Documentation
* Coordinate and manage printed and digital materials required each show date.
* Ensure the run of show is implemented, followed, and maintained across performances.
* Attend technical rehearsals on show dates to finalise setup and cue execution.
* Complete stage manager reports after each show.
Requirements
* Located in Sydney or Melbourne with availability to work in person.
* Own and operate a Mac computer.
* Advanced working knowledge of QLab (video, audio, and image cueing).
* Proven experience stage‐managing or operating live performances or events.
* Ability to work independently, manage preparation time effectively, and take ownership of show execution.
* Availability to attend in‐person rehearsals (off‐site), tech rehearsals on show dates, and onboarding meetings with local teams.
* Strong organisational, communication, and problem‐solving skills.
* Calm, reliable, and focused under live performance pressure.
