Overview
Principal Structures / Mechanical Engineer role at Bendigo Advertiser (BDA) within the Office of Airworthiness. The position supports the E-7A Wedgetail platform and involves leadership in the development, review, approval and certification of structural and mechanical artefacts for development and sustainment activities. The role offers opportunities to engage with Boeing's certification and airworthiness community across programs including the E-7A Wedgetail, P-8A Poseidon, CH-47 Chinook, F/A-18 Super Hornet and MQ-28 Ghost Bat. The role can be undertaken in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Williamtown or Amberley.
- Provide engineering leadership for the technical execution of 21J structural and mechanical activities for development and sustainment engineering, including development, review and approval of design artefacts, repairs, technical safety and engineering in accordance with the approved BDA Engineering Management System.
- Collaborate across disciplines to achieve integrated solutions.
- Engage in customer interaction with stakeholders from operators, contractors, DASA and aircraft OEM.
- Champion improvements in structural methods, standards, and tools to enhance efficiency and technical excellence.
- Mentor and guide teams of engineers, fostering growth in technical expertise and engineering judgment.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace Engineering with experience in airworthiness/certification and design of aircraft and their components/systems.
- Experience developing structural and mechanical modifications to primary structure, internal payloads and component qualification is highly regarded.
- Experience working within a civil or military design organisation (21J design organisation or ODA).
- Capability to gain Engineering Designations on relevant platforms. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain.
