The Opportunity
A well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Commercial & Project Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex projects across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site execution.
This is a senior leadership role with accountability for project outcomes, commercial performance, governance and team capability, overseeing a portfolio of active projects and a team of Project Managers and Coordinators.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to contract, while maintaining strong client relationships and protecting project margins.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery Leadership
Lead end-to-end delivery of engineering and manufacturing projects
Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing and site delivery functions
Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements
Commercial & Contract Management (Project-Level)
Administer project contracts, including variations, EOTs, RFIs and claims
Monitor budgets, margins and cost-to-complete
Validate progress claims and milestone billing
Identify and escalate complex commercial or contractual risks
PM Team Leadership & Governance
Lead, coach and develop Project Managers and Coordinators
Allocate workload and uplift delivery capability across the team
Maintain consistent governance frameworks, reporting standards and controls
Ensure accurate use of schedules, registers and dashboards
Scheduling & Performance Oversight
Oversee integrated project schedules and recovery planning
Identify slippage risks and coordinate corrective actions
Report delivery and schedule performance to senior leadership
Stakeholder, Risk & Compliance
Manage client communication related to delivery and escalations
Maintain project risk registers
Ensure compliance with WHS, engineering and quality standards
Oversee FATs, commissioning and final handover
About You:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or similar
Formal PM qualification (PMBOK, Prince2, Agile or equivalent)
7-10+ years' experience delivering engineering, construction or manufacturing projects
Proven leadership of Project Managers and cross-functional delivery teams
Strong experience in project governance, controls, scheduling and reporting
Hands-on contract administration experience (variations, EOTs, claims, RFIs)
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, cost-to-complete and margins
Experience working directly with clients on delivery and escalation matters
Highly Regarded:
Postgraduate qualification (MBA, Engineering Management or similar)
Experience in industrial, heavy electrical, manufacturing, utilities or fabrication projects
Exposure to PMO frameworks and governance improvement initiatives
Experience supporting tenders, commercial reviews or contract negotiations
