About the role
Working as part of the Facilities Management team at Sydney Airport (FM), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the airport's electrical infrastructure. This position focuses on maintaining and improving the High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution network, as well as other critical systems like Aerodrome Ground Lighting (AGL) and Runway Visual Range (RVR). You will work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and other airport teams to manage routine and emergency maintenance, support operational activities, and uphold the highest standards of compliance and safety. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the seamless functioning of one of Australia's most important transportation hubs.
In this role, you will be
1. Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical assets, including Aerodrome Lighting and RVR systems.
2. Providing onsite technical support for contractors, project managers, and FM service providers.
3. Ensuring maintenance and repairs comply with WHS, EEO, and environmental standards.
4. Supervising contractors performing installation, maintenance, and project work.
5. Responding to urgent breakdowns and coordinating disruptions in compliance with regulations.
6. Preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and technical manuals.
7. Performing electrical network safety inspections and recommending enhancements.
8. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure minimal operational disruption.
About you
1. Experience in a similar role, ideally involving high and low voltage electrical systems.
2. A current Electrical Licence and Trade Certificate in a relevant Electrical Trade.
3. Proven ability to supervise contractors effectively and ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
4. Strong technical expertise with complex electrical equipment, including SCADA systems, and the capacity to act as a technical reference.
5. Good communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills, with a focus on customer service excellence.
6. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs and Maximo (CMMS).
7. Certification in CPR and Low Voltage Rescue, with additional training in high voltage/low voltage switching.
8. A valid Class C Driver's Licence and Airside Driving Authority (Category 3/4).
