Our client, a major national infrastructure contractor delivering one of South Australia's most significant transport projects, is seeking an experienced
Mechanical Shift Supervisor
to support round-the-clock operations on a world-class tunnelling program. This is a key role overseeing mechanical functions on large-scale tunnelling equipment, ensuring safe, continuous and efficient production.
This position sits within a high-performing delivery team responsible for maintaining mechanical systems on complex underground machinery. You will lead a small mechanical crew, coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance, and respond quickly to mechanical challenges during live tunnelling operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to be part of a long-term city-shaping project.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervising mechanical activities across tunnelling shifts
* Ensuring all equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics and conveyor systems, is operating safely
* Troubleshooting mechanical faults and coordinating repairs
* Conducting inspections and organising corrective actions
* Maintaining accurate shift reports and maintenance documentation
* Supporting installation and commissioning of TBM mechanical components
* Liaising with technical specialists, subcontractors and operations teams
* Working in a structured roster environment with both day and night shifts
Requirements
Mechanical Trade Certificate
Background in tunnelling, mining, heavy plant, or mechanical maintenance
Strong mechanical diagnostic skills
Experience leading or supervising a work crew
Confident working in high-risk and fast-moving environments
Strong communication and safety awareness
