Key Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in respect to a Library Supervisor
2. Demonstrated capacity to work independently and coordinate a team when necessary/required
3. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff and external parties.
4. Demonstrated ability to liaise and engage with students and staff and develop strong working relationships.
5. Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management in respect to the work area.

**Role**:
The Library Supervisor will ensure that they:

- Actively Supervise students in the library during lunchtimes where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher
- Actively Supervise students in the library whilst completing the School of Excellence program where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher
- Provide literacy support to students alongside classroom teachers during Independent Reading Library sessions.
- Facilitate the library induction program alongside classroom teachers.
- Allow senior students to access private study.
- Provide recommendations of appropriate resources to staff/KLA leaders for teaching and learning.
- Support library staff with training of library management systems.
- Ensure that the library facilities are adequately resourced and operating effectively so that students and school community can access the learning and reading materials they need.
- Promote and seek to engage the GSSC community with library services, resources and facilities
- Liaise with GVRL to support staff and students with shared resources.
- Oversee and support library technicians to implement their roles and responsibilities.
- Liaise across neighbourhoods to ensure consistency of practice.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Facilitate individual and group programs as required.
- Use SWPBS strategies when communicating with staff and students. Other duties as directed by the Executive Principal
Provide a list of Staff on Yard Duty so the Library Supervisor has a Teacher available should they require assistance. Failing that a line of hierarchy ie
- House Leader, Neighbourhood Principal etc.

**Responsibilities**:
Create a positive culture of belonging, care, high expectations and learning within their team and the College.
- Provide high level support to the Library Manager and Resource Centres.
- Proactively build a positive working relationship with all other ES staff.
- Attend and actively contribute to relevant meetings and events.
- Support and encourage staff to share ideas, strategies and resources.

**Other Information**:
This position will a special payment due to supervisor requirements. Attendance is not required during school holidays. Education Support staff play a significant role within the College. Within their core teams they share responsibility for building a positive culture within the school, improving school connectedness and for the implementation of the school¿s Vision, Values and Mission.
A position at Level 1 Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of services. At this level, an employee may direct and supervise the work of other staff members to achieve specific objectives in educational programs where it is an integral part of their position. They may also deliver curriculum programs alongside classroom teachers and supervise students where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher within the library space.
While there is a natural hierarchy in the Education Support classifications, all ES staff should feel supported to express the
