Geologist - Permanent Full-Time
Location: Brisbane, Queensland
We are currently seeking an experienced Geologist to join our Brisbane-based team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary group, working on both Australian and international projects across the oil & gas, mining, and civil engineering sectors.
About the Role
As a Geologist, you will be responsible for supporting a variety of subsurface projects through geological and geomechanical modelling, data interpretation, field supervision, and reporting.
You'll also play a key role in integrating geoscience data for project planning, risk assessment, and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct core lithological and geotechnical logging to support modelling efforts
- Interpret well logs (including microimagers and televiewer data) across diverse geological formations
- Integrate geological and geophysical data for geotechnical risk assessments and project planning
- Build and maintain 3D geological and 1D geomechanical models for CSG and mining projects
- Provide expertise in well testing and overcoring data interpretation for projects across Australia and Sub-Saharan Africa
- Support and substitute field engineers during DST and overcoring operations
- Guide in-house software development initiatives with geoscience input
- Georeference graphic materials and produce professional geological illustrations
- Perform laboratory rock properties measurements and assist in developing new lab methodologies
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present recommendations to clients
- Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 10+ years of international experience in applied geoscience
- A Master's degree in Geoscience or a related field from an internationally recognised institution
- Advanced proficiency in geological modelling and interpretation software, including:
- Petrel, TNavigator (Oil & Gas)
- Leapfrog Geo (Mining Geoscience)
- ArcGIS, Surfer (GIS and mapping)
- Experience with laboratory-based geomechanical testing (familiarity with Russian GOST standards is desirable)
- In-depth knowledge of coal geology in Kazakhstan and Sub-Saharan African regions (Botswana, Zambia)
- Strong expertise in interpreting extended well logging suites in complex geological settings
- Proven experience combining office-based interpretation with hands-on field supervision
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Australian work rights
- Ability and willingness to work in field environments
Experience in business development or consultancy services (preferred but not essential)
What we'll offer you

Pay: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
