About Launceston General Hospital

Launceston General Hospital is an accredited 450‐bed teaching hospital and the major referral hospital for Tasmania's North and North‐West. The hospital provides emergency and acute care, specialist services, inpatient and ambulatory care to Launceston and surrounding areas.

It is the largest employer in the region with around 2,300 staff and is committed to quality services in a culture of respect, professionalism and teamwork.

Study Program Support

The hospital works closely with the University of Tasmania and other universities to provide clinical practice experience for students in Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Allied Health and Pharmacy.

The Clifford Craig Foundation supports medical research, education of health professions and funding of equipment and facilities.

Supported by the Tasmanian Department of Health's Studer Program, Launceston General Hospital implements nine key principles for excellence, measurement, culture, leadership, engagement, accountability, communication and rewards.

The Role
* Manage the postgraduate medical education and training programme and pre‐vocational workforce within LGH, ensuring compliance with the Australian Medical Council (AMC) via the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT), in liaison with specialist colleges and the University of Tasmania.
* Provide guidance and support to the junior medical workforce at LGH.
* Facilitate training and education sessions in accordance with Accreditation Standards.
* Liaise with the Post Graduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania to foster an environment and pathway for junior doctors.
Eligibility
* Essential: Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
* Desirable: Qualification in education/medical education.
Compensation and Benefits
* Level 1 – Visiting Medical Practitioner; Level 4 – Visiting Medical Specialist; salary range $254,149 – $445,341 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging.
* Salary packaging options include benefits such as living expenses up to $9,010 and meals & entertainment up to $2,650 per year.

* Leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
* Fitness Passport – access to 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania: $14.50 per week per person, or $28.05 for a family.
* Other allowances as applicable.
Appointment Details

Multiple fixed‐term part‐time day worker positions, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a two‐year period. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.
