Exposure to a multidisciplinary team led by consultant psychiatrists partnering with some of the most experienced clinicians in the wider service, iACT is a highly supportive, collaborative, and hard-working team where clinicians can develop fundamental and advanced clinical skills rapidly.
**About the Role - (Part-time Fixed 0.8eft, temporary Parental Leave position until 22/08/2025)**
This role has emerged from a focussed government initiative to ensure equitable access to the public mental health system for children aged under 12 years of age. The position is of a senior mental health clinician with training, qualifications and experience in assessing and treating under 12-year-olds with mental health problems. The key components of the role include:
- Complex and comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children aged under 12 years and their families.
- Providing session-limited treatment to children aged under 12 years and their families, working within individual, parent, dyadic and family contexts.
- Care coordination of children aged under 12 years.
- Working within a systemic framework - ensuring that all components of a child social system are considered and included in their care.
- Provide consultation within iACT, across ELMHS and with key stakeholders outside of ELMHS for children under 12 years of age.
- Working collaboratively as a member of the iACT multidisciplinary team and sharing team duties
- The capacity to hold a case load that includes a number of complex cases.
- The capacity to take a lead role in care co-ordination of complex cases involving multiple systems.
- The capacity to support the senior clinician co-ordinator in the management of patient flow and the development of a model of care that accords with the ELMHS developmental episodic model of care for children and adolescents that present with a range of complex care needs.
- High level of skill in collaborative practice with a range of community and statutory agencies.
The part-time (0.8eft) temp maternity leave position is primarily based in Dandenong and the core business hours of this team are 8.30am-5.00pm.
The position is an Allied Health Grade 3, Psychologist Grade 3, RN Div 1 Grade 4
**About ELMHS**
Early in Life Mental Health Services (ELMHS) provides assessment and treatment for infants, children, adolescents, young people and their families. We work with the 0-18 age in the Southern Region. We provide a comprehensive assessment service and a range of treatment options including inpatient treatment in times of crisis, community (outpatient) treatment, group programs, family therapy, and specialist services. The Intake, Assessment, Consultation and Brief Treatment Team (iACT) provides up to six sessions of initial assessment and treatment for referrals received by our service. We work with families in addressing a number of complex issues that families may be experiencing including school refusal, parent/child relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma related issues, self-harm, suicidal thinking, eating disorders, and psychosis.
