Farm Hand (with a bit of everything) – Chittering
We’re looking for a capable, hands-on farm hand to join us on our 150-acre property in Chittering. You’ll be working closely with a mixed crew of Dorper sheep, Angus and Scottish Highland cattle, and the day-to-day realities of running a working farm.
This isn’t a “stand around and be told what to do” role. It’s for someone who likes getting stuck in, takes pride in their work, and can think for themselves.
About the Role
Flexible part-time position with real variety. One day you might be checking stock and rotating paddocks, the next fixing a fence, jumping on machinery, or helping with a tricky lambing.
You’ll have a fair bit of autonomy, so it suits someone who enjoys responsibility without needing constant direction.
What you’ll be doing
• Keeping a close eye on livestock health, condition, feed and water
• Hands-on livestock work including mustering, drenching, vaccinations, weighing, banding and assisting with birthing when needed
• Managing stock movements and paddock rotations, with accurate record keeping
• Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
• Looking after water systems
• Weed control and pasture improvement
• Supporting seasonal cropping activities
• General farm maintenance including fencing and fire breaks
• Working alongside owners, other staff and contractors
What we’re looking for
• Experience with cattle and/or sheep handling
• Practical farm experience (you know your way around)
• Comfortable with tractors and industrial machinery
• Driver's licence (non-negotiable)
• HR licence is highly regarded
• Someone who can prioritise, problem solve and just get on with it
Bonus points if you take quiet pride in a straight fence line or a well-run paddock.
What we offer
• Competitive pay based on experience (we'll be upfront about it)
• Flexible hours and days – ideal if you're working around school hours or other commitments
• A genuinely good working environment with great livestock and a well-kept property
• Immediate start
