We are currently seeking a Procurement Business Analyst (internally referred to as 'Category Business Analyst') to join our Category Management & Proprietary Brands team on a full-time, permanent basis at our Brisbane (Northgate) offices. You will support the Category Management team in portfolio analysis, data-driven decision recommendations, and market analysis, ensuring a customer-focused and data-led approach to portfolio management.
This role offers variety and challenge as you interact with various parts of our diverse business. This position is suitable for an individual with 2-3 years of experience in category management.
You will be responsible for:
1. Providing analytics on product mix and portfolio management.
2. Supporting Category Managers with analytics related to pricing, product mix, and portfolio management.
3. Responding to internal queries from customer service and sales teams regarding products and pricing.
4. Supporting reporting requirements for category managers.
5. Coordinating with the Purchasing Team on supply issues, reviewing data, and working with Category Managers & Demand Planners on alternatives.
6. Maintaining a current list of product substitutes and alternatives to support contingency sourcing.
7. Providing data analysis and recommendations through Power BI and other insight tools to aid strategic decisions within category management principles.
8. Performing other ad hoc duties as directed by the Director, Category Management Proprietary Brands.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
1. Experience in category management within retail, wholesale, FMCG, or pharmaceutical industries.
2. Exposure to procurement or warehouse environments (advantageous but not essential).
3. Strong analytical skills, knowledge of margin calculations, buying practices, and basic inventory management.
4. Proficiency in MS Excel & Power BI, with experience working with data.
5. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
6. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills for liaising with stakeholders.
