This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026. This role is advertised as part of a recruitment pilot to simplify the application process for teachers. The School
O'Connor Primary School (PS) is a friendly school that values the support and participation of the school community. O'Connor is in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, named after Charles Yelverton O'Connor (CYO), Chief Engineer for WA, and is a community with a population of over 30,000. O'Connor PS was constructed in 1996 and serves over 700 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Physical Education Teacher. The ideal applicant will work independently across a variety of school settings and possess strong interpersonal skills. A flexible approach to the school day and a willingness to engage in a dynamic and diverse environment would be ideal.
O'Connor PS is well-regarded within the community for its strong and positive reputation. Our teachers work collaboratively, using the Western Australian Curriculum, Early Years and Primary Learning Frameworks, and ICT to design differentiated, engaging, supportive, and creative learning environments that cater to diverse student needs. All teaching and learning programs must uphold dignity and respect for every learner, with emphasis on Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and values-based education.
The successful applicant will actively support the school's Business Plan, contribute effectively within a team-teaching environment, and be committed to whole-school approaches and initiatives. An evidence-based teaching approach is preferred. The learning environment created should be inclusive, challenging, nurturing, and imaginative, ensuring every student is supported to achieve meaningful progress.
Experience in Health and Physical Education is highly regarded.

Mobility and Eligibility Information
Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers are available. Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the end of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers may return to their substantive role or transfer permanently into this school. See IKON for eligibility. Note: South West teachers are not eligible to move to another south west school under this trial.
