About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated Finance Officer to fill a 3-month contract, supporting the financial reporting and accounting functions within this federal government agency. The role has become available due to increasing workload and the need for additional support to ensure smooth month-end and year-end processes. It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic, impactful environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in transaction processing to maintain accurate and complete financial data in systems like SAP and other financial platforms.
* Extract, analyse, and interpret data to support month-end and year-end activities, resolving enquiries efficiently.
* Prepare timely, accurate reports and documentation to support financial reporting needs.
* Contribute to developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including process mapping and optimisation.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders on various project initiatives to improve financial processes and systems.
About You
You’re someone with a passion for finance and a desire to grow within a public sector environment. You’ll thrive in this role if you bring the following skills and experience:
* Background studies in accounting, currently obtaining or holding a Finance/Commerce Degree or Advanced Diploma.
* Basic understanding of accounting principles, reporting standards, and the general ledger.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a solution-focused approach to work tasks.
* Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, comfortable with data analysis and reporting.
* Experience in transaction processing and working with financial systems like SAP is highly desirable.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
