Strategic Role: Category Specialist / Category Manager - Global Indirect Services
A leading global mining client is seeking a highly capable Category Specialist or Category Manager to join its procurement team. Role Overview
You will be responsible for:
* End-to-end category management across multiple indirect services categories, including Professional Labour, Consulting, Legal, Property & Workplace, and People Services
* Developing and implementing systems, tools, analytics, and reporting to support best-practice procurement outcomes
* Partnering with global assets and functions to execute strategic sourcing and ensure robust contract management
* Influencing internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver on strategic priorities such as social value creation
* Supporting portfolio resource allocation to optimise performance across supply management, governance, and value delivery
* Monitoring external market trends, innovations, and emerging risks to inform procurement strategy
Candidate Profile
* Extensive experience managing complex categories, particularly within indirect services
* Proven success in strategic sourcing and category strategy development
* Strong negotiation capabilities and a track record of delivering procurement value
* Expertise in procurement systems, data analytics, and performance tools
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills across geographically dispersed teams
* Ability to synthesise complex information and present it in a strategic, actionable format
* A proactive mindset with the ability to lead change and navigate ambiguity
We are offering a day rate in the region of $1000 per day + super. A high level of work/life balance is on offer, including WFH 2 days a week. We are looking for someone who can start at relatively short notice and who can commit to at least 12 months and is open to a permanent role further down the line.
