JLE Group is seeking an experienced Switchboard Electrician to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Orange, this role offers stable workshop-based work building high voltage electrical equipment for major construction projects, renewables & data centres.
About the role
The Switchboard Electrician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and related LV/MV systems, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with AS/NZS standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.
Key responsibilities include
* Assemble, wire, and fit-off electrical switchboards and distribution boards.
* Install components including breakers, relays, busbars, cabling systems, and protection devices.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings.
* Complete panel layout and internal wiring in line with design documentation.
* Conduct testing including continuity testing, insulation resistance (IR), functional and operational checks.
* Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances and assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and site commissioning where required.
* Complete QA documentation, ITPs, and test records.
* Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, AS/NZS 61439 Switchboard Standards.
* Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.
* Follow all WHS procedures, SWMS, and safe work practices.
* Apply lockout/tagout and isolation procedures.Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
* Assist in process improvements and standardisation.
* Mentor apprentices and junior trades where required.

What you'll bring
* NSW Electrical Licence.
* Electrical Trade Qualification.
* Strong understanding of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry standards.
* Experience in switchboard manufacturing.
* Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
* Well‐developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
* Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
* 7-12 years' experience in the trade.
