Our Infrastructure business is seeking an experienced and motivated
Bridge Lead - Queensland
to lead and grow our bridge engineering capability across the state. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for shaping technical excellence, building a high‑performing team, and strengthening our presence across Queensland’s transport and infrastructure market.
Reporting to the
Regional Director, you will provide technical and people leadership to a team of bridge engineers and designers based in Queensland. You will play a central role in developing capability, driving project delivery excellence, and building strong relationships with key state government authorities, contractors and industry partners. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, support business growth, and elevate our bridge engineering offering across major infrastructure programs in Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organise and lead project teams in the delivery, design and documentation of bridge and civil infrastructure projects across Queensland
Provide project management and technical leadership across complex, multidisciplinary projects
Lead contract negotiations, including variations, claims and commercial matters, ensuring contractual obligations are met
Drive business development and strategic initiatives within Queensland, including proposal preparation and client engagement
Build, maintain and grow strong client relationships, particularly with Queensland state government agencies and private sector clients
Monitor technical quality, budgets and schedules, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and in line with Hatch’s systems and processes
Mentor, develop and support the growth of bridge engineers and designers
Provide clear vision, direction and leadership to the Queensland bridge team
Lead recruitment activities and expand the bridge engineering capability within QLD
Collaborate closely with other sector leaders and technical teams across the business
Approve employee time, expenses and manage day‑to‑day operational requirements
What We’re Looking For You are a highly experienced bridge engineering professional with a civil engineering degree and a strong track record delivering complex bridge projects within the Queensland infrastructure market. You bring deep technical expertise in bridge and civil structure design, a solid understanding of Australian Standards, and strong familiarity with
TMR
requirements. You are a capable people leader who enjoys developing teams, sharing knowledge, and driving technical excellence. You have proven experience delivering multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget, and are comfortable balancing technical leadership, client engagement and commercial outcomes. Professional registration with Engineers Australia or equivalent is highly desirable, including
RPEQ ,
CPEng
and/or
RPEV. Experience in business development, proposal leadership and building strong client relationships will be highly regarded, along with clear communication skills and sound professional judgement.
