Production Manager Job Description
The role of the Production Manager is to ensure that all aspects of production meet the company's objectives. This involves managing both material and human resources to build high-quality products that give great value to consumers while maintaining or increasing profit margins through continual efforts to increase efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Training: Train production staff on all product lines to meet quality control and production pace requirements, assess trainees for potential full-time employment, and maintain and update production procedures for all products.
2. Planning, Coordination, and Control of Manufacturing Processes: Allocate weekly/daily labor per management goals, generate and manage daily production schedules, ensure efficiency and adherence to build time standards to maintain labor margins, communicate goals clearly with production staff, and uphold performance standards.
3. Quality Control/Production Flow: Enforce zero-error tolerance for final QC, maintain organized, traceable production workflows free of bottlenecks, train and qualify quality control assistants, conduct frequent spot checks, and ensure adherence to SOPs from assembly to final packaging, maintaining safety and consistency.
4. Reporting: Submit weekly reports on production staff pace, QC results, improvement suggestions, scrap rates, and labor efficiency to protect profit margins, and promptly report performance or conduct issues for swift corrective action.
5. Facility Maintenance + Management: Inspect and report necessary maintenance, maintain clean, organized production and storage areas, optimize assembly and production flow to minimize wasted movement, and hold the team accountable for workspace cleanliness.
6. Administrative Tasks: Utilize ERP for Production Orders, ensuring proper tracking, convert BOM to Finished Goods, and move inventory within ERP to match physical reality.
7. Inventory Management: Conduct 10-100% inspections on incoming parts, adjusting based on vendor qualifications, and ensure all parts are properly stored and tracked in ERP.
Requirements / Qualifications:
* Proficiency with hand tools and soldering, basic electronics knowledge, strong Microsoft Excel and ERP experience, extreme attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, dependable, full-time in-office presence, production environment and management experience, and knowledge of the musical instrument industry or musician background is a plus.
