Celebrating more than 30 years, CMAX is one of Australia's largest, longest running and most experienced clinical trial units conducting successful world-leading research for local and international clients, specialising in a range of early-phase trials and first-time-in-human studies.
These studies have resulted in the advancement of global medicines and technologies, from cancer treatment and pain control to early warning bio-devices and hormone replacement therapies.
CMAX operates a 78-bed capacity state-of-the-art facility, primely positioned opposite the Royal Adelaide Hospital and are part of the growing BioMed City precinct.
About the role:
CMAX has a vacancy available for a part-time (full-time if preferred) Laboratory Technician, working rotational afternoon and night shift (2130 – 0730hr) with alternate weekends for a permanent 12 month contract, with the possibility to extend.
As a member of the Laboratory Team, the Laboratory Technician will provide assistance in a range of technical tasks under the guidance and supervision of the Laboratory Manager and/or Laboratory Supervisor that support CMAX to conduct its clinical studies to a high standard of quality as required by relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), regulations and guidelines.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the successful person will be responsible for:
* Collection, processing, storage, sorting of biological samples and completion of required documentation;
* Dispatching of biological samples as required;
* Performing and documenting laboratory equipment maintenance activities;
* Housekeeping of laboratory areas;
* Monitoring laboratory supplies and notifying order requirements;
* Assisting in reviewing and updating SOPs and WIs;
* Acting as a 'buddy' to assist with training new and less experienced staff;
* Undertaking study specific tasks under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Supervisor.
About you:
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant science or health care discipline would be highly regarded or equivalent training and hands on laboratory experience;
* IATA Certificate is desirable (if not already held, ability and willingness to pass the certificate is mandatory);
* Demonstrated general knowledge of the standards, procedures, regulations and standards relating to the conduct of clinical studies including ICH GCP is desirable;
* Demonstrated competence in general laboratory practices and biological sample handling;
* Demonstrated ability to work independently;
* Ability to multitask and adapt to changes in priorities;
* Excellent interpersonal and team skills;
* Proven excellent attention to detail and computer competency;
* Availability to initially work day shifts for training purposes is essential.
