The Sustainability Coordinator (Resilience Outreach) coordinates outreach and programs related to the City's resilience program and initiatives including but not limited to responding to community concerns, developing and implementing community education and outreach programs, identifying and facilitating external resources and funding opportunities for private sector resilience and acting as a liaison between the community, City staff, and other agencies on resiliency efforts.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sustainability Coordinator (Resilience Outreach) coordinates outreach and programs related to the City's resilience program and initiatives including but not limited to responding to community concerns, developing and implementing community education and outreach programs, identifying and facilitating external resources and funding opportunities for private sector resilience and acting as a liaison between the community, City staff, and other agencies on resiliency efforts.
This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. * Acts as project lead for development of climate resilience and sustainability related programs, ordinances, plans and policies.
* Presents findings and recommendations.
* Manages project and program timelines; monitors information; prepares reports on progress of plan.
* Tracks specific performance metrics related to the City's strategic plan, resiliency and other related initiatives.
* Supports inclusion of sustainability and climate resilience in the City and County Comprehensive Plans and other City, local and regional plans.
* Acts as City point of contact for participation and collaboration with several external organizations.
* Provides outreach to internal/external stakeholders on resilience and sustainability programs and initiatives.
* Provides information and assistance to city officials and management, other governmental agencies, and the general public.
* Performs related work as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. 1.Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Communications, Marketing, Natural Resources, or related area of study.
2. Must demonstrate a minimum of three (3) years of experience in developing and implementing sustainability and resilience related programs, public outreach,, ordinances, plans and policies or closely related experience.
3. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for one year of the required experience or education.
4. If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) to the online application.
As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time.
