The Role
DM Group is seeking an experienced Drafting Project Manager / Team Leader to join our Townsville head office.
You will be joining an established team of Project Managers operating within well-defined systems and platforms. There is no rebuilding required — just stepping in and delivering.
This is a practical, get-in-and-get-the-job-done role. We operate with a flat-line management style. No politics. No "top dog" mentality. Just accountability and performance.

Core Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
You must be able to:
* Confidently navigate and interrogate complex 3D models.
* Coordinate directly with project site supervisors.
* Accurately interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
* Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members.
* Have a complete working understanding of structural steel fabrication, sequencing and erection methodology.
This role requires real fabrication intelligence — not just drawing production.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Manage drafting and detailing packages within structured systems.
* Ensure models align with fabrication capability and constructability.
* Resolve coordination issues early and practically.
* Deliver projects on program.
Site & Fabrication Alignment
* Work directly with site supervisors to align documentation with real conditions.
* Manage client expectations with lifting, welding, transport and erection sequencing in mind.
* Maintain alignment between workshop output and issued drawings.
Team Contribution
* Work alongside an established team of Project Managers.
* Support and guide project modelling and detailing teams.
* Maintain drafting standards and quality control processes.

Experience Required
* Minimum 10+ years in the structural steel environment or drafting leadership.
* Strong Tekla Structures experience highly regarded (Training offered if no experience)
* Demonstrated experience coordinating with fabrication workshops and site teams.
* Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering and architectural documentation.
