Australia Post is delivering like never before. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We're delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We're moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.
About the opportunity
Join a high performing team that's shaping the future of payroll compliance at Australia Post. As part of our Payroll Governance and Compliance function, you'll play a key role in ensuring our payroll processes not only meet, but exceed legislative and industrial obligations. This team is delivering like never before embedding governance controls, driving audit readiness, and enabling accurate, timely payroll outcomes for a workforce of over 60,000 employees. You'll be part of a collaborative and technically skilled environment that's passionate about continuous improvement, compliance integrity, and proactive risk management.
What you'll deliver with us
In this role, you'll support the Payroll Governance and Compliance Manager in implementing a holistic control framework across Time & Attendance and Payroll systems (SAP, Kronos). You'll analyse complex payroll data sets to identify anomalies and ensure compliance with EBAs, Modern Awards, and Fair Work legislation. Your work will directly support audit readiness, remediation programs, and enterprise risk initiatives. Success in this role means enabling compliant pay outcomes, reducing risk exposure, and supporting the broader business with legislative insight and reporting. You'll work closely with the Governance & Compliance Analyst, Payroll Operations, Legal, Internal Audit, and Technology teams.
You'll also
* Conduct compliance testing and transactional audits across payroll and time & attendance systems (e.g. SAP Payroll, Kronos) to ensure legislative and enterprise agreement adherence
* Identify, investigate, and report payroll discrepancies using root cause analysis, escalating risks through appropriate governance channels
* Assist in the maintenance of the Payroll Compliance Risk Register and contribute to remediation actions and control improvements
* Monitor and interpret updates to the Fair Work Act, EBAs, Modern Awards, and superannuation legislation, supporting operational readiness and change management
* Support the delivery of internal and external audit responses, data extracts, and evidence packs for compliance reviews
* Contribute to business-wide payroll compliance uplift through capability building and structured change initiatives
About you
You're a technically proficient payroll specialist with a strong background in payroll governance, compliance controls, and data analysis. You bring hands on experience with enterprise level payroll systems and understand the critical role compliance plays in delivering accurate, timely pay outcomes. With a methodical and analytical approach, you're confident working with large data sets, interpreting legislative changes, and identifying control gaps or risks across payroll processes. You work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities effectively, and are comfortable engaging with both technical teams and business stakeholders to drive improvements.
You'll also need
* Demonstrated experience in payroll operations and governance within a large, complex HR/payroll environment
* Strong working knowledge of SAP Payroll and Time & Attendance systems (e.g. Kronos), including data structures and system architecture
* Hands-on experience with Spinifex reporting tools and using them to support audit, compliance, or remediation activity
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including macros, pivot tables, complex formulas and power query) and experience analysing large datasets
* Solid understanding of payroll related legislation and policies, such as Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, EBAs, and superannuation compliance
* Proven ability to manage remediation tasks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement payroll governance controls
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, working effectively across internal teams (People & Culture, Payroll Ops, IT) and external regulators or auditors
How we'll deliver for you
* We invest in you for the long-term, encouraging growth and creativity. We'll help you develop your skills and steer along a career path that works for you.
* We invest in your personal wellbeing, recognise and reward you for your contribution to our success with our new Post Perks and more.
* Hybrid working environment – two days working from home
* Be part of a team that values trust, inclusivity, empowerment, and safety – and bring your authentic self to work every day
