About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced hands‐on Mechanical Technician to support their high‐performance manufacturing operations located in the Greater Western Sydney Region.
This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled technician or Mechanical Engineer with experience in the consumer electronics sector and strong capabilities in maintaining and optimizing advanced production machinery.
You will have a primary responsibility for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of Murata-brand manufacturing equipment, ensuring maximum uptime, efficiency, and product quality across the production lines.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation & Commissioning
* Install, configure, and commission Murata manufacturing equipment, ensuring proper mechanical, electrical, and control‐system integration.
* Validate machine performance during ramp‐up and assist in qualification activities.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
* Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on Murata machinery and other production equipment.
* Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control‐system faults.
* Minimize downtime by responding quickly to machinery breakdowns and implementing effective corrective actions.
Production Support & Optimization
* Monitor machine performance and implement improvements to increase productivity, reliability, and yield.
* Collaborate with engineering teams on modifications, upgrades, and process enhancements.
* Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts usage.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure machinery meets company quality standards and aligns with regulatory and safety requirements.
* Support root‐cause analysis and corrective action implementation for process or equipment‐related quality issues.
Skills & Experience
Required
* Demonstrated hands‐on experience as a Mechanical Technician in manufacturing, electronics, or consumer electronics production environments.
* Strong experience with Murata‐brand machinery (Or similar), including mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
* Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and perform repairs with minimal supervision.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems (motors, bearings, actuators), electrical systems, PLC‐controlled equipment, and safety interlocks.
* Competence with technical documentation, schematics, and equipment manuals.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
Preferred
* Experience in supercapacitor, battery, semiconductor, or related high‐precision manufacturing.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies (5S, Kaizen, TPM).
* Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III/IV in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, or similar).
