We are looking for youth workers in the Brisbane North, Redcliffe, Logan, Jimboomba, Ipswich and South Brisbane areas to work with young people within the community.
The Position
As a youth worker, you will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and mentoring to young people through NDIS. This may involve developing and delivering programs and activities that promote social and emotional well-being, building positive relationships with young people and their families, and providing practical assistance with daily living activities.
General Duties
Some key duties and responsibilities of a youth worker may include:
* Developing and implementing youth programs and activities that promote social and emotional well-being
* Providing mentoring and support to young people to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
* Building positive relationships with young people and their families
* Providing practical assistance with daily living activities, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene
* Liaising with other service providers, such as health professionals and educators, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting young people
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation of youth work activities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
* Competent writing, comprehension, and verbal skills.
* Proficient computer skills, with easy access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
* Ability to follow instructions and work within the limitations of the position.
* Ability to work independently.
* To succeed in the role, you will need to be energetic, resilient, passionate, and have a strong understanding of the need for situational awareness.
* Excellent communication skills are vital to this role, as is the ability to advocate for diversity and inclusion.
* Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* Previous experience working with young people in community, educational, or support settings (paid or volunteer experience considered)
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain one
* National Police Check
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Current driver's licence and reliable transport for community visits
* Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
