About the Role
Ahrens Group is undergoing robust growth and transformation, creating fantastic opportunities to join our expanding HSQE team based in Western Australia. As a HSQE Cadet based at our Naval Base, WA office (with travel required), you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience while supporting a range of safety, quality, and environmental initiatives across our diverse operations. This is an ideal role for someone studying or recently qualified in WHS or Environmental disciplines who is looking to build a meaningful career within a agile, Australian-owned business that values continuous improvement, learning, and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining accurate HSQE records, reports, and training documentation
- Support the coordination of divisional HSQE administration and contractor compliance
- Contribute to the development and rollout of HSQE programs and training initiatives
- Help implement and monitor workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Maintain up-to-date safety and general noticeboards
- Provide basic first aid and support Return to Work Coordinators as required
- Assist with the upkeep of the training matrix and scheduling of WHS training
- Participate in the continuous improvement of HSQE systems and procedures
- Complete required quality assurance documents and support system compliance
- Travel to various sites to support the HSQE team in day-to-day activities
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience using Skytrust (safety system) desirable
- Currently studying or recently completed qualifications in WHS and/or Environmental Management
- Construction Industry White Card (required)
- Applied First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
- Basic understanding of document control and HSQE systems
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take initiative in a hands-on environment
- Flexibility to travel to different sites across Western Australia
- Current driver\'s licence
