Nurse in a Blood Donation Setting
Description:
The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood seeks highly skilled nurses to join their team in the blood donation setting. As a nurse in this role, you will have the opportunity to work with donors and ensure that they receive exceptional care throughout the donation process.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical oversight and guidance to other staff members during blood collections
* Conduct routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests on donors
* Set up machines and equipment for blood collection
* Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
* Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
* Monitor donors post-donation and assist them in scheduling their next appointment
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
* A Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent qualification
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
* Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and afternoon shifts
* Ability to lift between 9-22.7kgs and frequently stand, walk and bend
